Wait until hurricane and wild fire season starts…

Muricans will learn the hard way that the Dunning-Kruger effect can in fact be deadly

I’d say the affected states will call out for help, and international communities will send it. But Trump will huff and puff from his high seat claiming his own help will be great, then actually do very little himself. He won’t outright block outside help though, because it’ll be mostly free aid…

He will however absolutely nitpick every single thing offered, vastly delay it with checks at the border, and talk about how stingy other countries were and how inferior their offered aid was, while also refusing any federal aid.

We’re kinda in the middle of a hostile takeover right now, thanks.

Wasn’t there an emergency disbursement from the US put together this morning? Late due to TrElon’s bullshit, sure, but it does exist

Nothing stops organizations & individuals from volunteering & helping as they want & are able to. But to act like it should be expected for America to send taxpayer money whenever disasters occur is a bit ridiculous. There is a housing & homeless crisis in America already. However I haven’t seen any tax cuts either so where the fuck is all the money going?

really, we should help them for reasons of empathy and morality (helping those with fewer resources).

but in terms of diplomacy, our allies trust us less when they see us hoarding our wealth rather than using it to help others.

if you really want to think in mercenary terms: improving the health and wellbeing of other countries improves foreign markets that American corporations can sell to, and distributing aid gives us an opportunity to engage with nations and make personal connections to advance our national interests.

but really, we should help them for reasons of empathy and morality.

I have no problem with helping people due to empathy, but it is a choice I get to make. Like when you’re asked if you want to donate when buying something at the store.

Of course they do. Plenty of people help & donate like me cause they want to, not cause they’re forced to. When you force people to donate it is called theft. At one time in history people actually left the monarchy over it. But now you’re about to have another monarchy because you’re fine with it.

I could be wrong, but I don’t think america started because they were whiny about ~1% of their taxes going to help people

Pretty much it did because they didn’t have representation. Just like you don’t have representation now because of the electoral college, gerrymandering, Citizen’s United, presidential immunity & a bunch of other things where Trump has nearly unlimited power. Do you see Democrats doing anything while billionaires are buying votes in broad daylight?
