    “when you have a tenant who knows their rights” lol fuck landlords whining about how it’s getting harder to exploit people. This is the “risk” you signed up for. Fafo.

    It’s almost like maybe housing shouldn’t be used as an investment?

    If food was scarce, and I hoarded food and resold it, causing the price of food to skyrocket, no one would take sympathy on me if I faced economic hardship. Why would we do anything different for other necessities (healthcare, housing, water, etc)?

    There are risks to owning property. There are risks to rent out that property. Deal with it. Don’t blame the poor people for finally having a few grams of power.

    Maybe these fellas will learn their lessons about risky investments, eh? I can tell you I’ve never had a pipe burst in my GICs and never had asbestos in my RRSP. Landlords are a uniquely whiny and privileged class, overrepresented and vehemently defended at every level of the private and public sectors and media.
