      Honestly, why bother?

Management has been wanting to cash out for a decade.

The IPO will go ahead, the reddit of the days of yore is dead. It will not improve.

The horse is dead, beating it will just make you hot, sweaty and your arm sore.

No matter what you feel about the place it was never going to go any other way.

It’s like thinking one final shopping spree at Toys’R’Us would have stopped the hedge fund flunkies from siphoning every last cent out of the company.

They already made the decision. The data doesn’t matter (much like the Work From Home / Return To Office fight) and the decision has been made to squeeze profits until it is bled dry.

They never really cared how the userbase was going to feel about it.

A new protest and shutdown would be to get it into the media eye in a bad light. Not actually do anything of importance to the site.

After all, the 24 hour news cycle lives on scandals.

After all, the 24 hour news cycle lives on scandals.

And because it is a 24 hour cycle, the scandal will be forgotten and replaced with a new one in the same amount of time.

I give it 2 months before they axe or further cripple old.reddit prior to IPO, should give Lemmy another wave of new users.
