I’m sure most people here would recognise this as fishy but I’m sharing anyway. Warn your more trusting friends and family!
Write to “[email protected]” and tell them they’re hosting a scam site.
The domain is registered through GoDaddy, and the site is HOSTED by GoDaddy. They can take this site offline instantly.
You know what the most infuriating part is? When I look up that number, I see news articles dating back to 2019 with the same scam (and same phone number!).
That means there’s been ZERO enforcement of the law. No wonder why scammers just keep scamming.
Let me work on that for a second…
eMail: [email protected] and let them know the number is assigned to RingCentral.
Can you share links to those articles? I’m finding a lot of dead ends.
Ok, have a look here.
It’s an archive of a newspaper from July 11, 2019 (The Renfrew Mercury), and you can see the same ad listed there! These guys have been playing the long game for a while.
And if you visit their website, it totally looks like something you’d expect from a scam, and not a professional organization handling disability benefits.
I see other similar ads posted in other newspapers (i.e Waterloo Chronicle, Wasaga Beach Sun, etc.)! You have to pretty much look up archives at this point.
They’re becoming bold to send that crap by mail. Surely that can be traced back?
I don’t want to think about how many seniors would fall for this…
Well that’s who they are targeting, seniors, children and pensioners
Seniors? Everyone over 50 is scrambling for their TikTok-Box in a race to punch in their SIN, credit card and photo of their birth certificate.
What’s the cutoff for becoming a senior? 😂
That is subject to change depending on how close you get to what it currently is. If you’re above 50, 65 years old is Senior.
I expect it to be higher by the time I get near.
Feels right.
Is that distributed by Canada Post, or dropped in a mailbox by hand?
Either way, it’s wild that the scam is lucrative enough to make the costs worth it.
The site is hosted by godaddy on a server in the us. It should be trivial for law enforcement to get that taken down, if they actually gave a shit.
I think it was dropped off by Canada Post, but I’m not sure.
