Greenland’s Prime Minister Mute Egede has called for the North Atlantic island to pursue independence from its former colonial ruler Denmark in a New Year speech.
The world’s biggest island — which is home to about 57,000 people — was a Danish colony until it become a self-governing territory of Denmark in 1979. Since 2009, Greenland has held the right to declare independence through a referendum.
The timing can’t be coincidental, can it?
As a bit of pedantry, the worlds largest Island is technically Australia
Eurasia?
Is a connected landmass, where Australia is the largest island and smallest continent.
And what’s the difference?
Just the definition of an island….
“An island is a mass of land smaller than a continent”.
This seems to be the most agreed upon definition I can find, which means Australia would not be an island.
A landmass completely surrounded by water
That shit’s a continent.
Independence from colonialism and imperialism—sounds great.
