Yep, same here.
Yep, same here.
Soldiers take an oath to the constitution, not the president, so all members of the military have the right, and in some cases have the duty, to refuse illegal orders. Source.
Yeah the title, and frankly the article, is shit. They couldn’t have made it much more confusing if they tried.
Johnson wants Trump to be able to bomb, this resolution would have told him he has to stop bombing. Johnson is against the resolution, so he’s okay with Trump bombing.
He also doesn’t think Congress needs to affirmatively act to give Trump war powers right now, which just exposes the fact that Johnson doesn’t understand his own role in government.
These immigration raids and terror tactics are terrible on their own, but it’s especially absurd when Native Americans get caught up in it, and it just fully exposes how disingenuous and transparently racist the whole effort is. So I’m sorry that your peoples have to suffer even more because of this racist mindset.
From a January article:
”If you can’t say, ‘we’ve been here for time immemorial,’ then you’re an immigrant. You’re not from here, so who are you to classify our Indigenous people? These lands have been a melting pot for many ethnicities,” Hatathlie [a Native Arizona state Senator] said.
I heard another more recent example of a car full of Native Americans being pulled over, aggressively questioned, and asked for their papers, but I can’t seem to find it. It’s utterly shameful how we treat people.
This is….horrifying.
And yet, it tracks.
I agree with every part of this.
A while back I was standing in the butter section, waiting for a couple to move so I could grab my pricey-but-worth-it butter, and overheard them talking about how butter is a scam and it all tastes the same no matter what. I had to hold back a chuckle. They of course grabbed the cheapest option and went about their lives in complete ignorance of the glory of high quality butter.
I still wonder if I should have said something to encourage them to try a better butter, but they talked about it with such blind confidence that I didn’t feel right about it at the time.
Holy shit, really? I didn’t know that. That wild.
