Melancholy. It just sounds so nice. It rolls off the tongue so well and it’s just a beautiful word.

Flickerby@lemmy.zipOPto New Communities@lemmy.world•Reprieve, a com for men to take a break from the worldEnglish3·1 day agoI don’t blame you. All that’s available nowadays for men to reach out is absolutely inundated with horrible horrible people and ideas. This is meant to be a space where those people aren’t allowed to fuck it up for the normal people who just need someone to talk to.
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do insects have personalities? Do invertebrates in general exhibit "personalities"?8·2 days agoMy buddy used to have tarantulas and while I fucking hated and was scared shitless by them, they apparently had recognizable personality quirks and habits according to him. Shiver Creepy little bastards though
Birds. Though her favorite thing is also birds. This…can create issues.
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humansEnglish4·2 days agoAh well, unfortunately the community name is set, there’s no changing it after it’s created. Maybe I should’ve made it more searchable but hopefully we can spread it by word of mouth enough where it’ll take off. Also I kinda wanted it less intimidating clinical sterile sounding and more just a homey place where people can feel safe to talk openly, just a li’l reprieve from the outside world.
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Fediverse@lemmy.world•what are the lemmy "format" alternatives besides its standard ui?English5·2 days agoConnect is wonderful! Posting from that. I don’t know if they have an iOS version but I’m on Android. Very much like RiF, feels familiar
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the best, and conversely, the worst wedding you've ever been to, and why?21·2 days agoI don’t like religions in general and a lot of the reason is the shitty way (some) adherents feel they can treat women and other minorities and it’s just a-okay dandy because their magic li’l book told them it’s okay. I went to that wedding I mentioned when I was just a pre teen and it really sorta cemented the fact that there’s so much bullshit going on with that and just…no one deserves to deal with that. Just love each other and be happy y’all, it doesn’t seem so complicated to me.
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humansEnglish2·2 days agoYou can share them to fellow humans here now /c/[email protected]
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humansEnglish15·2 days agoWell if you give up before you start just because the existing options are shitty then that makes you part of the problem, doesn’t it?
Flickerby@lemmy.zipOPto New Communities@lemmy.world•Reprieve, a com for men to take a break from the worldEnglish15·2 days agoOh shit, thank you, I knew I forgot something
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humansEnglish132·2 days agoYeeah agreed. So this is specifically not gonna be about that and if I see any of that shit it’s getting nixed… I just want all these guys who have no where to turn to to…well, have somewhere to turn to. Each other.

Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the best, and conversely, the worst wedding you've ever been to, and why?6·2 days agoJust the wife. It was all about “serving God” and “by serving man you show your devotion to God”. There were uhh…ripples of unease going through the wife’s side when all that was said to put it lightly.
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humansEnglish442·2 days agoThe amount of sexism in this comment section is…unnerving. Does a community exist for male identifying people to talk and share their troubles in a non hostile space? If it doesn’t I’ll make one.
Edit: No idea what I’m doing but /c/[email protected]
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humansEnglish9·2 days agoI’m here to talk if you need an ear man, I understand you and it sounds like you’ve been through your own personal brand of shit
Edit: Made a com where you can talk more freely without judgement /c/[email protected]
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What do Americans have to worry about that Canadians dont?61·2 days agoNo but in my neighborhood it’s 3.5kUSD/month for a one bedroom studio
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humansEnglish261·2 days agoIf you really honestly don’t understand why what you said was horrible I’m willing to have a conversation with you if you want to DM me to talk about it. For starters, men feel scared and uncomfortable because their serious problems will get made light of just like you did. Or told to “man up”. Which I imagine was on the tip of your tongue
Flickerby@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Men are opening up about mental health to AI instead of humansEnglish584·2 days agoThis response is why men feel scared and uncomfortable opening up. You are a part of the problem. For your male family members’ sake, I hope you check in on them instead of just being sexist online.
People have a right to exist and society has a responsibility to care for those who cannot work. The whole point of society is to ensure the health and well being of their members as a WHOLE. If a society cannot or will not care for their elderly or infirm then that is a failed society.
