Yes, LJ Dawson has always been known for taking extended vacations. It’s okay. He works hard. He deserves all his vacations whenever and for however long he pleases.
I wonder if it’s just one dude or if he has a whole band of Brothers who work with him on this. cuz what if he gets in a car accident goodness forbid in a coma or death or something and then what happens to Sync for Lemmy?

One reason why I didn’t like sync. The app is great but the developer tends to just disappear.

Used sync did not get on with it at all. Almost gave up on lemmy then downloaded voyager.
It’s pretty great there are 1 or two things I don’t like about it otherwise it’s perfect.
I wish he’d send us a postcard from Tahiti.
App still works well and is the most polished Lemmy app out there. I’ve been with Sync for so many years so I’m not ready to call it quits on this app just yet. Hopefully LJ Dawson is ok and will return sooner than later.
Yeahhhh, my understanding for LJ has waned considering how much money he charged people for Sync for Lemmy and then disappeared basically immediately.
Unfortunately though, I do agree Sync is still the most polished - but it’s steadily becoming outdated. I really want to sort by Scaled, as an example.

Sync is already polished. It’s older than Lemmy itself, originally released in 2013!!! The current version is 23!
There aren’t a ton of updates these days because there’s not much to update. This app is polished as hell, having over a decade of development.
How about solving the ‘failed to pull git’ or whatever error it is for images.
Or adding in Scaled sort.
‘not lots to do’ isn’t a good reason for being completely silent.
Long time Sync user and supporter. App is smooth and works great…except I have been seeing a lot redgifs that won’t preview or open recently.
Those just plain won’t open on my phone.
Looked at one that wouldn’t load. The link included api.redgifs… I’d blame whomever posted the link first.
whenever images and videos won’t load (FYI the glitch is not isolated to porn), I switch over to the Voyager app where all images & videos load with no problem. Then when Voyager becomes unbearable because Sync is mostly better, I come back to

Considering I’ve paid for the Sync app multiple times, and the price for the Lemmy version is one of the highest cost apps, I think it’s at least reasonable to expect at least a minimal amount of communication.
If it really was “already polished” and “older than Lemmy”, why do I have to pay again and a significantly higher price for Lemmy integration when I already paid for the “already polished” parts? I figured it would be a reasonable price increase because Lemmy is constantly changing and still somewhat young, so that means more frequent updates to keep up.
I don’t recall paying for the Sync lemmy app. Is there a way to have this without paying? Or did I pay for it and don’t remember?
The free version has ads, which is what I use and probably you too.
Dns66 is an open source app run by the famous chaos computer club (ccc) that does ad filtering via VPN. If you install it on your phone, it will filter out ads from any app.
You can find it in fdroid.
While I totally understand your frustration, and I myself have moved on to jerboa and still sub here and have the app installed, but haven’t opened it in over a month.
This is the exact same dev style sync has always had.
Then why is the app not the same price it always had?
Honestly the answer there is simply that he had to charge a smaller number of users more. I’m not defending it to be clear, it’s just how it seems to be.
Supply and demand. Fewer users, more individual contribution to make it worthwhile to spend cycles on.
Neither one of the mods, one being the dev, have posted in months.

There are many issues though, and it’s been 4 months now with nothing.
for reddit it was but things are changing on Lemmy and spoilers, superscript, etc. Still don’t work on Sync.
