This is from almost 4 years ago, but still.
I (at the time, 16F) was bi-curious (I still am) and was willing to give dating girls a try. So, I told my one friend (she was just my type but as a woman) that I liked her.
My type is charismatic, extroverted, and athletic, and of course, Victoria (15F) was all of those things. There was this other girl (17F?) Mariana, who actually was interested in me, but she was shy and not athletic. Along with that, she was a lesbian, and in order for me to form a connection with a girl, she HAS to be into men.
I honestly think the whole friend group I had was interested in me, but there was just one problem with all of this: I was still dating Jamie, my boyfriend. (17M)
Mariana was also friends with Victoria. Apparently Victoria told Mariana that we confessed our feelings and started to go out. Sadly, Mariana ruined my only chance with a woman. Like I said, I was still dating Jamie, and Mariana knew about Jamie, but Victoria did not.
Mariana had to open her fat mouth and asked if Victoria and I were in an open relationship. (She knew Jamie and I were still a thing and that we haven’t broken up yet) Mariana then told her about Jamie.
Later that day, when I saw her again, I was with Jamie, holding his hand and being all romantic. Just when I was about to kiss his cheek, Victoria was about to approach me and looked visibly upset upon still seeing me with Jamie.
Angrily, Victoria told me Mariana told her everything. I called Mariana a dumb removed and an asshole, and told her she couldn’t sit with me for the remainder of sophomore year. I could tell Mariana was devoted to me though, as were most of my friends, and she apologized as I told her to. I also told her to tell everyone it was just a rumor and a lie that Jamie was my boyfriend, but Victoria did not want me back afterwards. (Fuck you for that, Mariana.)
I genuinely believed Mariana deserved a punishment and that she was being homophobic for telling Victoria that. She ruined my only chance with a woman.
I’ll never find another woman as pretty, popular, or extroverted as her. Plus, Victoria and I both liked scrolling through TikTok all day non-stop.
Now it’s been 4 years, like I said. I’m almost 20. I think I was very kind to forgive Mariana. As part of the punishment, I told all my friends to talk shit about Mariana and brutally punish her, but of course we were easily forgiving people.
You have a LOT of growing up to do. Most definitely YTA.
Wasn’t it mean of Mariana to tell Victoria though? She should’ve kept that to herself, what if she just wanted me to be single/not date women?
(Mariana is a lesbian but still).
And what if she was just looking out for Victoria? I don’t think it’s unreasonable to tell your friend “hey, that girl you’re into has a boyfriend.”
I don’t feel like you’ve been particularly considerate of anyone’s feelings, and that includes Victoria.
I told Jamie Mariana was lying so he got mad at her
