One of the things I think most Americans don’t understand is how important it has been for presidents to maintain some sort of continuity with previous presidents’ actions. “both sides” often bitch about how their side doesn’t just undo all the policies of the last administration. But this is why they haven’t - it makes it very difficult to negotiate with a nation that spins on a dime every 4-8 years. You want to negotiate with a “nation” not with a “person”.
And yet all Republicans do is try to regress the country every time they get power.
