    Granted that any time humans wield anonymous power without oversight there will be bad behaviour. When I was younger I took for granted that a key part of the social construct of Anonymous was an ironic awareness of that, hence its suitability for striking back at high-handed enemies of humanity.

    I was quite young back then.

      Yeah that’s kind of the point for Anonymous. It could be anyone and no one. It’s jokers telling people to put their phones in the microwave, it’s idiots putting slurs on random pages of home users, it’s concerted groups seeking to take a stance against authoritarian figures and groups. You can’t catch them because it’s not really a group of a few people, it’s an idea and a moniker that anyone can adopt. Very “I am Spartacus”.
