I have a very powerful sense of smell. I can tell who slept in my bed if I know that person well. It happened to me once in a college dorm, where a roommate slept in my bed while I was home for the weekend.

I can smell tobacco from far away too. Before anyone notices it.

I know if the cake in the oven is ready, by the smell it sends inti the living room, which has a dining room and a hallway in between.

Unfortunately, I can also smell bad smells very powerfully.

That’s a really interesting power to have. Can you sometimes smell if people are ill? It’s something I’ve read about

I think so, when I am ill. My sweat might smell different, or my breath. But I am not that superhuman. But there are some bad people smell that kind of repeat themselves. But I did not investigate these things. I know animals can detect some illnesses, maybe through smell.

The sense of smell also affects the taste. I can taste a lot of ingredients in an unknown dish. I also cook very well, maybe because of that. When I got Covid and the sense of smell went for a while, food tasted like nothing. It was kind of horrible to have to eat. I would focus on textures and spiciness.

I’ve got a good instinct with good and bad people. It’s not infallible but I often pick up on things that show who they really are. There was a woman at work a few years ago that everyone thought was the nicest woman ever but I knew she wasn’t… sure enough she started bullying people.

I can also read peoples behaviour pretty well, so spotting when someone is pretending to be ok, or when something is going on behind the scenes. You don’t go off words you go off behaviour and it tells me a lot.

I have this too! I was never wrong when somebody looked like an ok person, but I just did not like them. I can read a lot from people’s non verbal communication. And I see a lot of things before them being officially revealed. I learned to trust my instinct.

100% I’m a passionate believer in women’s strongest power being their gut instinct. We tend to shut it down but IME it’s usually right

In loud, crowded places like restaurants, I can usually still hear and identify what song is being played through the speakers (presuming of course that I know the song). Often I’ll say something like “Oh I haven’t heard this song in forever!” and my husband will not even be able to hear it after I tell him what it is and start singing along.

I have gut feelings about certain things at work. I work in city water maintenance and generally I know they’re a main break before there’s any evidence of it. I am trained to find them but for some reason, I tend to be better than everyone else at my job with it.
