      as someone who used NixOS on desktop for two years, using AerynOS shows NixOS is not really good for that use case yet (assuming you’re using what nixpkgs provides and not doing a major amount of overrides and patches and using alternative repositories).

      It’s staggering how much more polished AerynOS is to NixOS on desktop. So my current take, AerynOS is great for an intermediate users desktop, NixOS is a good option for server.

      aerynos is pretty much just another distro as far as the user is concerned. extremely user/normie friendly unlike nix, and unlike fedora silverblue it doesn’t have a bunch of dumb limitations like forcing the user to use containers.
