1. I start my computer ;
  2. The loading screen appears ;
  3. The login screen appears (but logging in will not work) ;
  4. The screen turns black with underscore ;
  5. The login screen reappears (logging in will finally work) ;
  6. I’m logged in.

It has been like that for a while, I expected this bug to be found & fixed eventually, but after running an update today, it still hasn’t, which is why I’m now posting here.

So, when the login screen first appears :

  • either I have time to type my password & press enter, but afterwards the login screen still disappears then reappears as if I never tried to log in ;
  • or I’m still typing the password while it disappears then it reappears as if I never started typing ;
  • or I wait for it to disappear & reappear, and only then I can finally log in.

What to do ?

Thank you

    Do the login screens look different from one another?

    As far as I know KDE Neon isn’t really meant as a daily driver. A different distribution would probably be more stable.

      Nope

      KDE Neon isn’t really meant as a daily driver

      Why not ? It’s Plasma and KDE apps on a Ubuntu LTS base with none of Canonical’s crap.

      And all KDE apps work on it, while other distros running KDE don’t necessarily support all KDE apps, especially Discover.

          I don’t see any contradiction here. As long as you’re using the user edition, you’re still using a tested distro.

          Plus, except for Ubuntu, no Debian-based distro ships Plasma 6 (Tuxedo doesn’t count because Neon-based).

            while the User Edition is stable, there might be some teething problems with new features

              Well, distros that say “is stable” and don’t say “there might be some teething problems” still have problems, so this is average. Just because I was warned doesn’t mean I can’t talk about an issue…

                Yes, but you should bring this up on the KDE forums and/or the place where you submit bug reports, because this is related to a relatively unstable OS with new features that are still not “perfect”, so improvement is needed, and the problem you have might help them.
