Surprisingly good.
Ukraine couldn’t win militarily despite western aid, which as leftists correctly calculated, only slowed the conflict.
Ukraine was pressed to aim for a total victory, no diplomatic attempts. That’s because of a perceived Russian weakness which wasn’t ever there. When pressured by a defeat, Russia redoubled their efforts instead of pulling out.
Russian military and industry are vastly more capable now than at the start of the conflict, and western equivalents aren’t much more prepared, and Ukrainian equivalent lacks resources
It was paywalled, so thanks for summary !
Western planners underestimated Russian moral strength
Well now they have the desired Intel.
degraded mode capabilities
What does that mean?
defensive tactics with heavy machinery for fortification.
Which is amusing, given the amount of supposed mechanisation yankee military has. Those trench digging excavators, those tractors for filling sandbags, etc.
Russians practice “Maskirovka,”
It annoys me perhaps more that it should when foreign press take a normal Russian word and slap it into the text untranslated so it sounds more strange and menacing. Maskirovka just means camouflage, masking, you dolts. “Kompromat” isn’t even a Russian word, and “dizinformatsiya” just makes my eyes hurt. Bloody journos.
Ukrainian general staff lacks a critical mass of ground forces capable of breaking through
Sounds like a thinly veiled call for NATO boots on the ground. As in, officially and end mass, as opposed to “volunteers”.
most serious error is seeking exclusively military solutions to end hostilities
Which likely means “must also seek ways to hurt the economy” and terrorism. Not “let’s sit down and actually try to communicate”.
French officer concludes that Ukraine cannot win the war militarily due to insufficient forces
Which again, suggests “non military” solutions - terrorism against infrastructure and various political maneuvering.
Ukrainian soldiers’ fighting spirit is affected by ongoing conflict.
No shit, sherlock. Yankee soldiers been shooting children at their leisure for decades, and they still had their “fighting spirit affected”. What did you think an actual war would do?
Kiev is not capable of re-establishing the collapsing front with an “elite” brigade’s dispatch
Turns out the Hollywood myth about le elite super troopers heroically turning the tide via smol forces is just that - a myth.
Degraded mode capabilities means that Soviet designed perform better when damaged. And yeah, taking Russian words and using them to make things sound more sinister has been a trend in the west for a while.
Thanks for the clarification
Russians practice “Maskirovka,”
Well BT is built on the same enormous amount of anticom brainworms. So of course they also use “scary foreign word”.
so wait, ukraine didnt practice opsec, camouflage and misdirection? that’s basically what “maskirovka” comes out to, isnt it?
well there’s your problem!
The most serious error is seeking exclusively military solutions to end hostilities.
That ship has sailed. NATO and the liberal media have convinced anyone that surrendering or negotiations mean genocide of the Ukrainian people, Russia attacking Europe and China invading Taiwan. There is a good portion of Europeans and Americans who think global thermonuclear war is preferable to Ukraine negotiating.
Russia has no choice but to grind down Ukraine slowly, like they have been doing, until Ukraine runs out of Western monetary support, weapons, and/or soldiers.
