Both the Senate parliamentarian and the Government Accountability Office have concluded that Congress lacks authority to block California’s climate policy.

K, are they gonna send the military to California bcz that’s the only way this is enforceable, then again, California could just not pay taxes, they are the 5th largest economy in rhe world. So, they aren’t exactly defenseless.

      This comment fascinates me

California is apparently about 12% of the total tax revenue of the US, and New York is about 8%. If every other state was equal after that, they are about 1.5 each.

That’s quite a lot of leverage

Can’t send people to El Salvador if you can’t pay for planes

Didn’t the manager for the Patriots lend his private plane to deport people to Guantanamo? Lack of government funded airplanes won’t stop them

iirc the Patriots plane has a 3rd party management that manages a bunch of planes that happens to also include the patriots plane.

then again, California could just not pay taxes

Income taxes are paid directly to the Federal government. They do not pass through the states first, and thus California can’t “just not pay taxes” by an act of government fiat. It would have to convince all of its taxpayers to individually stop.
