Ok so I’ve barely played this game so far, I’m only up to the Blighted Village. But I heard this guy is an annoying as fuck Redditor but so far he’s just been a lovable dork. Does he get worse or something?
Honestly having Moss from The IT Crowd in my party is a breath of fresh air considering the other party members consist of an angry green fascist, a goblin racist, a foppish dandy who immediately tried to cut my throat, and someone called Shadow Fart.
I heard he was more obnoxious before patches. Do tell.
Edit: Oh and Wyll is there too I guess. I unironically forgot he existed lmao
Before the patches, Gale’s romance meter would fill up really really fast and off of non-flirty, friendly interactions. “Sure Gale, I’d like to hear more about magic some time but I’m busy now” would basically be enough for him to become aggressively interested in you, fuelling a lot of Nice Guy type jokes about him
fucking hell, this explains it
i swear i had three conversations with him before he was like “please join me down by the river, i need to express my feelings to you”.
my man, you told me you like magic and that you need to eat enchanted swords to live, i don’t even bring you on quests - simmer down
I feel like this is a substantial amount of video game romance writing, which leads me to go “wait, what? romance begins now?” (there are some better written ones, but I feel like this is regular for many cRPGs)
(the romances in Shadowrun: Calfree In Chains were ok, though rather linear)
Honestly even early BG3 had well done romance, just Gale in particular was a horndog
nice, I didn’t know about these extra campaigns for Shadowrun, need to try them sometime
I feel like this still happens, I started my playthrough in the patch before last and him telling me he needed someone to talk to translated into him wanted to slam like immediately.
Honestly I was sorely disappointed by the social elements of the game in general - probably because of all the hype the game got. Very often I wasn’t able to give the kind of answer I felt I wanted to in a given situation, and in general I wasn’t able to play my character with the personality I had in mind much at all.
