I saw some mention someone saying that fae argued that ppl should be able to date inside orgs, or that fae wanted to date a coworker, and I also saw people very recently saying that fae was posting strange stuff again, and I haven’t seen any of this, or at least I haven’t noticed, so someone please explain
I did see faer profile but most of the stuff wasn’t much more than annoying, so I’m assuming the worse stuff got deleted
I’m constantly lurking and yet I always miss the drama
crying at how this site has worked itself into a tizzy over a single user who, to my knowledge, hasn’t even posted recently lmao.
our best poster. the fact that hexbears are still posting about her even though she has been banned for a year is very funny. A whole portion of the site’s userbase hates her for posts like “MIT Study Shows 47% Of Americans Believe Movies And Television Shows Are Being Broadcast LIVE (In Real Time)” because they fell for it and the other half hates her because they see her in every user who posts something vague or is a troll lmao
I don’t want any replies to this comment saying “well actually she’s been posting on X alt” because that’s just conjecture
nah, fae was obnoxious to interact with. Full stop
One of only two or three users I bothered to block

what kind of proof would you even accept? like how do you prove an account is someone’s alt, in your eyes?
I mean the fact that Hexbear does not capture IP addresses or otherwise for user accounts (please note I am not advocating for this) means you cannot legitimately prove an account is some user’s alt.
You can say “they post the same kind of stuff” or “their writing style is the same” - but I would think that the @[email protected] debacle a week ago would show that kind of ‘proof’ is basically meaningless.
If a user comes out and says “I am X and this is my alt” or someone does an in depth analysis of all their posts/activity times/etc (even though I’d argue this stuff could easily be covered by anyone dedicated enough to their bit/trolling/etc) - fine, I’ll probably believe it. But stuff like “well as someone who argued a bunch with this user on the Matrix channel I AM CONVINCED this is their alt because they happen to rub me the wrong way in the same vein the other user did” is so worthless to me even if it comes from an admin. Because at the end of the day it is literally just conjecture.
as for the rest of your post: I kind of get it, but as you say “conjecture” is all we have because of the tools not available to even the admins. however, i’ll say this: i think this specific situation is so touchy only because the admins gave melina a ton of leeway which made people really mad. it doesnt help that accounts tend to come in and shit on people who admit they hate melina in a way that imo would get others temp bans

ok but what does this 4 month old banned account they presumably created to have to do with the post at hand.
it is funny you linked that thread because they themselves even say in the comment prior to the one you linked:
and
I want to say FWIW that I am not supporting anything Melina may have done or arguing against their ban. Personally I don’t really care either way.
I just think that a lot of users on this site tend to go “I am being harassed by X user and their alts” - which they very well may be. I’m not trying to get into any specific callouts or whatnot. But in the end it just leads to the same kind of ‘this person posting must be X because they were banned and have the same kind of humor/opinions/etc’ which just goes in circles and circles - which is what I meant in my OP when I said “the other half hates her because they see her in every user who posts something vague or is a troll lmao”
See: the whole WTYP debacle and various posts by multiple alts claiming to be WTYP & blaming Melina. Can you accurately say who was who? Cause I couldn’t. Meaningless.
It is my honest opinion that anytime someone says someone is an alt of a banned user - or someone says THEY are an alt, all parties involved should just be thrown into a penalty comm and made to duke it out between themselves - skip the whole sitewide vagueposting, conspiracy level comments, and whatnot lol.
you said that “melina hadnt posted recently” and then “the fact that hexbears are still posting about her even though she has been banned for a year is very funny” so i took that to mean you thought melina hadnt posted in a year since the ban.
as for why i linked the comment, you are now contradicting yourself, you’re now not accepting the evidence of someone saying “i am X and this is my alt” now, which is why i linked that specific comment. ig i dont disagree that it can tend to go in circles - but only because people come out to defend these accounts. my opinion: yeah, it doesnt really matter if they’re actually melina or not. however, they’re posting like melina, who was fucking banned! either you’re a poster who’s posting in a manner that’s extremely anti-social (because melina was banned), or it’s literally just fucking melina. i.e. when someone starts posting like a banned user/wrecker, maybe when someone accuses them of being melina instead of accusing them of being paranoid or whatever the mods should step in and tell people posting in obvious extremely bad faith to stop immediately or be banned. FWIW i dont know how popular what im saying would be, but i dont really care if mods hand out arbitrary bans as long as they’re being relatively consistent, which is by far my biggest problem with the mods, they have 0 consistency. why the fuck hasnt this post been removed yet for “metaposting” when other topics/comment threads that involve “metaposting” were, i have no clue.
Easiest resolution: a user with an active account asking a claimant: “what did we last DM about in your old account?”
this helps when you think someone is impersonating another user ala the wtyp or xhs situation, but not in the melina situation where people suspect alt accounts are that of a banned user who doesnt admit it on the alt account
