Ireland’s public health is atrocious even for cis people. It’s massively underfunded, the staff are paid and treated horribly, it’s way too centralized to Dublin so rural areas get left behind, and private options are insanely expensive. I’ve heard of trans people being on a waiting list for treatment for over ten years. You can get denied treatment for gender dysphoria for any bullshit the doctor comes up with, including being autistic, being depressed, or having any kinds of history with drugs, even medicinal. None of this is to mention the rampant abuse, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, racism, ableism and so on.

Yeah trans public healthcare in Ireland is straight up non-existent, but it’s not a bad place to be trans for someone willing to go through private healthcare or just DIY. Social acceptance seems decent and there don’t seem to be many barriers in the way for things like legally changing name and gender.

yea this is fairly accurate, you essentially have to go private or DIY cause the govt doesn’t give a fuck about us but socially it’s not particularly scary compared to a lot of places. as well to get surgeries you have to go abroad, total no-go domestically barring breast augmentation.

How is Austria over Germany? You need 3 independent psychological evaluations to get access to any kind of trans healthcare. And they also expire, so you need to get them again everytime you want anything covered by insurance. And the visits themselves are not covered by insurance.

Also, I know people who have been on dutch waitinglists for hrt for years.
