I check into flight online, go to airport, go to desk and the airline says they have no record of me ever having a flight. This is my return flight from singapore btw so i already took the first half of the round trip. Then airline accuses me of trying to defraud them and makes me miss my flight! I had already checked in! I was there on business too, for a large company. So i lost my cool and cussed at the attendant for being so incompetent and so disrespectful and she said she will have me arrested due to some law about cussing. I went to the help desk for the airport and that person says ‘dont ever fly United’. I went to airline office and ppl inside in the back but glass door is locked and they’re not coming to the front. I yank the handle which apparently sets off a silent alarm but i was unaware. Whole time ive been also on hold on the phone and have already been passed to a few different transfers but zero help.

They arrested me for several hours and refused to get me another flight. I had to get another for the next day (long haul over pacific with only one flight per day) and deal with it w my work. It was on a major holiday so flight and all the hotels were crazy expensive. My manager was a total corpo drone that I didn’t have confidence would refund me. I just stayed up all night without paying >$500 for a room and went out straight through to next flight out. I somehow couldn’t sleep still so just stayed up the (no drugs, as its death penalty for drugs there). I get home and its a day before due to the dateline, so its still the holiday and my housemates are having a party. Ended up being up for 3 days

London to Brighton train. I live somewhere in between. Stayed up 3 nights finishing some coursework, and finally handed it in. Kept falling asleep on the train and waking up at the terminal station, yo-yoing twice between endpoints. At one point the guy at the barrier said “YOU again?” as a joke, but it was too much and I burst into tears.

Got beat up by aggressive locals on a trip. Spent the night hiding from them. Caught a train in the morning, arrived home completely exhausted in the evening, crossed tracks with some other passengers to save on walking upstairs. Got a ticket for crossing the rails because, beat up, i looked like a bum.

About a year later it was legal to cross the rails in that spot, with no changes made to the infrastructure.

      • Weirdly, the thing that scared me most that day was the enormous cicada that was in the car my dad was driving like a maniac in to get us to Nicosia in the first place. The gunfire and shells barely registered until weeks later. All I knew was my dad looked stressed, my mom looked close to tears, and there were a lot of people constantly staring in the direction of the “fireworks”.

I had to fit through a tiny hole to exit a submarine I had already been stranded in for nine months.

I was once travelling just after the Paddington rail crash when there were mandatory speed restrictions. It was a 25 minute train journey that took nearly 3 hours. This is the days before smart phones so I had to just sit staring at a field bored out of my mind.
