    American coming in peace.

I like all of your comments. We’ve fucked around and we’re starting to find out and are becoming desperate.

These Republicans who are trying to woo you back should be putting their weight behind impeaching the Orange Menace.

Until the shitgibbon is gone, spend your tourism dollars elsewhere, and let us keep begging.

I really wish I could join you guys and trade my American citizenship for Canadian citizenship.

    Elbows up. You got this.

Thanks. But even after orange shitler is gone, in another four years after that there will be some other nutjob Republican voted in who will continue to extend the trump project of corrupt rule by total chaos. But they will be younger, and maybe smarter, so even more dangerous. The US is dead to me and dead forever to a huge majority of Canadians. The 51st state rhetoric, Canada doesn’t exist, arbitrary border, has socialized healthcare only because Canada doesn’t spend enough on its military, free trade bait and switch, stack the federal Govt with incompetent morons on purpose, taken altogether - did it. The US has crossed not one but hundreds of red lines. We. Are. Done.

Not gonna lie. I’m disappointed. But this isn’t a you problem. It’s a we problem, or a US problem. Trump isn’t the problem. We are the problem. And I don’t know how we can fix that. How do you fix stupid?

      Two thoughts.

Most Canadians view changing your administration as a collective responsibility of all US citizens. Kind thoughts are appreciated but most of us are increasingly impatient.

Second, have you considered that, like many other Americans, you may be a Canadian by descent? And if so, any children you may have also?

At present, due to a 2023 Superior Court Bjorkquist decision on Lost Canadians in Ontario (unchallenged by the federal government), there is an exceptional situation where people born outside Canada who are descendants of people born in Canada can apply to claim citizenship.

See this page - the flag at the top gives the latest extension of the interim provisions (that override the existing law that the Court stayed).

      https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/canadian-citizenship/become-canadian-citizen/eligibility/already-citizen.html

While I wouldn’t normally direct anyone to Reddit, the CanadianCitizenship subreddit has a lot of information on people’s experiences in navigating the process.

      See the FAQ at https://www.reddit.com/r/Canadiancitizenship/s/rHN4JVQwQO

Very interesting. I’ll have to look. My mom was the genealogist of our family, so she has some great records. As far as I’m aware, none of my ancestors are Canadian, but it seems that this site is saying to dig deeply into both my wife’s and my family history and look for any indications someone might have had a Canadian background? I’ll look, but even if it doesn’t apply to me, maybe it can get some other good people out of this rapidly worsening country.

I’m thinking even if this doesn’t help me, it’ll potentially help others!

We fight the trump regime together from both sides of the border, friend. #ElbowsUp #HandsOff
