Quite possibly. Syncretic religions/movements aren’t bad but this one got way into woo territory, with a persecution complex from the very start. I found the Zhuan Falun years before I became a communist, and had very mixed feelings about Falun Dafa. It makes a lot of sense that it is a “movement of the expats”.
