Israel getting second place was a bigger surprise to me. Even the popular votes gave then a lot more points than i had expected. Was it rigged?
It’s possible to vote for Israel, but not against them.
If you are pro Israel there are many people advising you to vote for them. even if you don’t watch. There are adverts advising people to vote. and there is a possibility of robo voting. it’s essentially quite cheap to game it.
It’s also possible to vote multiple times.
On top of this, I’m vehemently against Israel being involved in the competitions while actively engaged in a genocide. So I boycotted, which also amplifies any oro Israel voting.
Better to remove them from the competition as it’s become toxic to keep them in.
I didn’t watch it either mostly because of the double standards (they were quick to exclude Russia) but also because of the difference between the jury votes and the popular votes.
The while thing seems very bureaucratic and unfair
But you make a point with the viewers remaining are not at all representative of europe
My conspiracy radar is beeping…
My thought process when armchair checking out conspiracies has two points
- How many people are needed to hold a secret?
- Does someone rich benefit from the conspiracy?
So how many people need to hold the secret if it (buying votes) can be done with fake or stolen credit cards? Very few, but its a lot of votes to buy, but that would just cost more money
So does someone rich benefit from this? Well the Israeli government really benefits if Europeans think other Europeans are okay with Israel.
Am I antisemitic? No dont be reficulous, I’m not against any religion or ethnicity, I’m just against genocide no matter who does it
The way Eurovision voting works is that each voter get 20 points to distribute their vote. I suspect most “ordinary” people distribute their points across multiple artists because they can’t decide on one artist, while Israel supporters distribute all their 20 points to Israel.
Then I suspect most people watching Eurovision don’t vote, while most people supporting Israel vote for Eurovision - even if they don’t watch the competition.
I’ve also heard Israel did targeted ad campaigns urging people to vote for Israel.
So I think it’s less of a conspiracy and more of a foul play.
This was my highest surprise. To feel that there are many Europeans who are not only ok with Israel being part of the Eurovision while in a war, but also felt that they wanted to vote for them (both due to the song and as a signal value).
So your point about making a statement, by having people vote for ones country is valid!
I won’t go into theories as such on who has done what and why. But i wouldn’t hold the EBU to so high standards that it is unbribable
that’s the reason to game it. to convince you that you are being unreasonable. and alone.
Probably
Surprised at the amount of public votes for Israel.
