France is to build a high-security prison in the South American jungle for the most “dangerous” criminals, including drug kingpins, hardline Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin said in remarks published on May 18.

Justice ministry officials added that 15 places would be reserved for convicted Islamist radicals.

    They brought in vast amounts of heavy artillery (including anti-aircraft guns) and managed to move these bulky weapons through difficult terrain up the rear slopes of the mountains. They dug tunnels and arranged the guns to target the French positions.
