Lovely project. Does anyone know any other examples where rivers were restored where once a car sewer stood?
Not same story, but some points in common:
In Valencia, after a flood, they diverted a river. The plan was to use the new available space for an urban highway (it was the sixties…), but thanks to people push back it was turned into e beautfult park

Utrecht in the Netherlands had a moat that they turned into a motorway, and then back into a canal a few years ago
What a nice change. The only thing missing is more bike lanes. The raised car sewer is only for pedestrians, but a bike lanes would’ve been a great addition.

P.S cool that you’re on the fediverse! Will you be uploading videos here too?
To be fair, njb actually mentions there are new bike lanes but they are along with the car lanes. As a dutchy (= amateur bike lane expert) I consider this the right move as it slows cars and also brings more peace and quiet to the pedestrians. I totally understand why cyclists would prefer to cycle along this cute little stream, but they are part of the traffic in my eyes.
The “being part of traffic” part is fair. Even as an avid cyclist, I recognize how nice pedestrian-only areas can be. The park in the video wouldn’t be improved by middle-aged-men-in-lycra chasing Strava scores (like I see too often on my city’s riverside trail).
However, the painted bicycle lanes next to heavy traffic are a travesty, and Seoul could definitely do better.
“car sewer” is my new preferred expression for stroads
