And the IEA, for its part, expects China to continue to be the sole meaningful over-achiever. It recently revised upwards by 728 GW its forecast for total global renewables capacity additions in the period 2023–27. China’s share of this upward revision? Almost 90 percent. While China surges ahead, the rest of the world remains stuck.
Best case scenario, it just moves the pollution around from one factory to another. It doesn’t really limit anything.
And the whole concept of lowering your carbon footprint to be able to sell the margin you have left to someone else is ridiculous.
Reducing the carbon footprint or limit pollutants from entering the environment often involves significant investment. You can’t just make your factory magically cleaner.
Believe it or not, properly disposing of chemicals is expensive! Most polluting happens because companies are trying to save money by dumping chemicals rather than disposing of them properly. Same with maintaining scrubbers or other air filtration systems.
This is the whole reason the EPA exists! To make it painfully expensive to pollute.
