The point is for people to have digital backups their roms to play legally and to play roms on native hardware that will guarantee smooth playing. Adding on to say, yes the Steam Deck is cheaper and better when getting one at the new discount prices. It all depends on preference for emulation or running on original software. And most here would agree that Steam deck with emulation is preferred.
Why would you think SD with emulation is preferred when a lot of the emulated games have frame rate and stuttering issues on it? A switch with flash cart would play the games perfectly.

You mean, the same as the switch does normally, which in most of those same games, is not particularly well, because the switch is super low power.
