Hey all! There’s no “whatisthisbird” that I can find, so hopefully this is welcome here.
Saw this unique fellow on my walk this morning, hanging out with all the other geese in my area. I was pretty zoomed in so the quality sucks, the video looks better, but wasn’t able to upload one here.
Anywho was mostly wondering if this was a different breed or perhaps a hybrid, or just a genetic difference. If anyone knows that would be awesome! It appears physically identical to the other geese (to my untrained eye), just with different colored feathers on the head and tail.
For location info, this was taken in northern KY (USA)
I believe that could be a blue snow goose. I could be wrong, but they have similar overall coloration and they do occasionally hang out with other geese.
Wikipedia says it’s rare for them to travel alongside Canada geese, though.
It could also be a Canada goose with some weird mutant coloration, or which has been heavily henpecked at some point.
