I migrated my account back in June, got a mail saying it was successful and didn’t think more of it. Today after not playing MC since 2019 I felt like playing again after seeing that Tekkit was back. However when I log into my Microsoft account, my only Microsoft account, all I get is the option to buy the game again, even though I’ve owned the game since early Alpha.

I’ve tried contacting support, but the reply I got said they don’t help with migration related issues anymore.

Anyone have had the same issue as me? Is there any hope to resolve it or am I SOL?

Damn. Early Alpha? I’m at lost for words. I do hope that you get your account back but have no idea how they would even do so. My java mc was already connected with Microsoft from the start so I have no experience with this migration.

Yeah, started playing when clay was harder to come by than diamonds…

So do I, I refuse to purchase the game again because of some corporate decision.

I wish my sister were as principled. She and I created our accounts back in 2010. Being simple kids we used our names, mine was taken so I modified it. Hers wasn’t, so she ended up with an “OG username”.

Long story short that OG username resulted in her email accounts and Minecraft account getting stolen, with the assholes threatening to hack her bank accounts if she recovered it. I worked with her to secure all her stuff and she recovered her account. The “hackers” then harassed her for a few months and eventually gave up.

A couple years later it got stolen again. How? One of her old emails on the account was a custom one she made. The domain expired and someone registered it and used that to recover the account somehow (even though it wasn’t the email on the account at the time).

She contacted Mojang again, and they basically just closed the account because it had been stolen twice.

Instead of fighting my sister just made a new account and bought the game again…

Are you going through Microsoft support or Mojang support?

I think you should talk to Mojang about this. They’re more likely to listen to someone who paid for Minecraft when it was in alpha.

I was playing since alpha, but I didn’t buy until beta. When I migrated my account years ago, it was not a smooth process and it took several hours to get my Minecraft purchase to be applied to my new account. I think I just followed troubleshooting written by another player who had the same problem, I don’t remember talking to Mojang or Microsoft about it.

Both, Microsoft first then Mojang. Looked up a lot of troubleshooting threads as well with no luck unfortunately.

I am an alpha user who didn’t realise I had to migrate my account until a couple of days after the cut off (I don’t really follow what’s going on in Minecraft these days) and am still peeved about it even though I haven’t played in years! Sorry I can’t help, but I can share in your frustrations!

Yeah, i’m in the exact same position. It kind of sucks that i paid money for it and now i don’t even have access to it because Microsoft did a truly shitty move. It should be illegal to take away access to a product you paid for like this.

Yeah, I am sure it is! What is even more annoying is that I didn’t even receive an email from Microsoft that it was happening (not sure if that was just me). I am sure it is illegal (or at least a breach) but I can’t imagine how many likely costly hoops you would have to jump through to get them to honour the agreement.
