So much for a “well-regulated” militia.

The report floated the possibility that DOGE may change the rules on what types of guns can be imported

Good, ITAR sucks balls. Gimme cheap Khyber Pass 1911s.

    and make licensing fees refundable.

Good, if a refund is needed it should be given.

The pseudo-agency will also reportedly make changes to the mandated 4473 Form that gun buyers are required to fill out when purchasing a firearm, and sellers are required to keep in their records to help trace guns. The plan is to cut the form from seven pages down to three. How will they do that? By asking fewer questions of the gun buyer. Per the Post, questions that are currently seperate that ask things like whether a person has been committed to a mental institution, has been dishonorably discharged from the military, or has used illegal drugs will all just get smushed together into a single “yes” or “no” question as to whether a person is legally allowed to own a firearm.

So rather than asking 21 questions that are all a variation of “can you legally own this shit,” they’re going to make it one question that asks “can you legally own this shit?” Oooook, why the hell should anyone even care? “Oh no, nothing changed” ok cool.

As noted by the other commenter, well regulated in this context doesn’t mean what y’all think it means. Furthermore who do you think will be “regulated” away from their rights if you get your gun control goal, the fascists or already marginalized POC? Hint: not the fascists.

Hell yeah I’m all for it, but are there significant stocks of old Garands laying around in other countries? I’d figure the CMP would still be the best way to get one. Unless you mean new repros, but the problem is (afaik) nobody makes them because they’re difficult and expensive to manufacture to the OG specs, and idek who holds the patent.
