One of mine is with a specific song that is physically painful to me. This song was one of the earliest memes, and it was RIDICULOUSLY widespread.
Every person is different but, yeah, I’d say I have sensory issues. For food, I don’t like the texture of durian and bananas; for clothing, I dislike certain materials because it’s scratchy and uncomfortable on my skin. For auditory sensory issues, I carry silicone ear buds because loud noises can really irritate me.
Man, I enjoy the flavor of bananas, generally think they’re great, but they make me gag almost every time.
Mine are seemingly, relatively mild. I have temperature regulation issues, which bothers my senses with both hot and cold. High pitched loud noises (such as those emitted by my young children) will make me close my eyes so I have less input to manage. I don’t tend to enjoy silky fabrics. Some soft/slimy foods (bananas, sushi, thick/chunky drinks) make me gag. I hate being massaged by anyone.
I have some sensory issues, but I don’t know if they’re the same as yours.
Without elaborating it is hard to judge.
Exactly. My wife and I both have sensory issues, and while they overlap, there are significant differences. Which is fortunate, because her texture issues mean she can’t fold laundry but I can, for example. My texture issues are more extended contact-related, so I can fold wool socks, but I can’t wear them. And there are limited materials I can wear.
We both have similar auditory sensitivities, so our house is quite quiet, and we had to check neighbourhoods at multiple times when we were house shopping to make sure there were no deal-breaker environmental sounds.
She has olfactory sensitivities, but I don’t.
What are your sensitivities?
Sensory issues are fairly common, so … probably.
That’s a pretty broad question. I have a few, both sound and light. The light one isn’t related to my autism. The sound one is common. For me it’s just loud noises or the sound of bass comming through my walls.
Though if you mean sensitivities to touch, there’s a lot of those. I’m uncomfortable with people touching me. I know my roomate has a lot of issues with certain food textures.
What sense is troubling you?
Too personal.
Fair enough. Good luck.
