That’s quite literally the point of a union. To hold that company’s production hostage in order to level the playing field with those who otherwise are holding livelihoods, futures, and survival hostage.
When uninvolved third parties are bearing more hardship from the action than the owners of the company are, it’s closer to terrorism than a strike. But I mean, if a private company is so important to the survival of the country, it should be nationalized.
Edit: Of course, this isn’t a strike. In this case, the union workers are the target of the action, they are not the actor.
CN rail was privatized in 1995. It hasn’t been good.
I mean…… if the workers jobs are that crucial…… maybe they should be compensated as such?
