    Yeah he has said several times before that he already has achieved his dream by winning the championship. He’s mostly still in F1 for fun. And he also said before that he wants to win WEC. So it’s definitely not a empty threat.

      The FIA sanctions the WEC too, so I don’t know how that would work out under this particular circumstance.

        A WEC team has three drivers. He could probably negotiate a contract where he never has to speak in front of the press.

            A sabbatical where he keeps racing probably. There are championships that aren’t directly governed by the FIA. Like IndyCar or Super Formula.

      That’s true. Although it’s probably worth noting that both Alonso and Hamilton also said they wouldn’t be in F1 long, yet here we are.
