I watched the Trump parade stuff for ~5m. Fox was extremely careful and there wasn't a single shot of looking out at the crowd. The crowd must be very small. I wonder how many people are there.

why are they doing the America 250 years thing a year early? its 1776 not 1775. I legitimately don’t understand.

      It’s the Army’s 250 b-day. Officially - it’s a parade for the Army. Officially.

I’d say it’s less of a parade, and more of a collective walking event.

I just watched a minute or two here and a minute or two there and I’m no marching expert but that was some very sloppy shit. Some of it was surely a lack of practice. But I think some of it was passive aggressive too. Trump hijacked their day in away soldiers who aren’t chuds were probably angry about.

The entire thing is so weird to me - even for Trump. The two tanks in front of the stage are a chef’s kiss. They don’t look Strong and Powerful. They look like movie props made out of wood and plastic.

I went and watched the Moscow parade they had not too long ago for comparison and USians cannot march to save their lives. It is genuinely pathetic.

I’m not sure if it’s the same feed you were watching, but my quick look at this feed didn’t show many people in DC at all.

By pure chance I started watching just a few minutes before Trump himself came to the stage. The footage was so controlled - it felt like I was watching a cheapie made-for-tv movie or something and for some reason they had to scrap the CGI crowd stuff they were going to use as quickie filler. There was no no crowd footage at all. The Hail to the Chief played, the president plus his wife came out, and they sat down. And that was it. On top of that - were the two tanks in front of the stage. Z-level set design.

Compare and contrast (unironically love the seemingly value-neutral Hell March industrial complex on youtube that makes these montages of literally any army parade)

I don’t actually think that the PLA being parade trained is a point in their favor tbh. It’s silly no matter who does it.

Military parades can be cool and good IMO. The organization is very satisfying

Your opinion is not the same as mine and is therefore ontologically wrong.

I’m just being silly. I don’t actually care enough about this subject to make a deal about it.

D.C. is like 99% lib. Maryland and northern VA also very lib. nobody else wants to drive into the Beltway from the rural areas 60-70 miles away

I’m genuinely surprised they didn’t hold it somewhere in friendly territory. Surely there are better parade grounds.
