Yesterday, Twitch suspended an account that belonged to streamer and famous YouTuber Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt after he made racist comments about the death of Palestinians in Gaza. Now, the YouTuber has responded to the temporary ban with a surprisingly clear-eyed assessment of the controversy and what led up to it.
“I don’t really want to mince words or, ‘oh I wasn’t justifying or promoting [the genocide],’” He said during a new 20-minute long video on the subject. “I said something about it that was disgusting.”
Did he really have a change of heart just because he got in trouble with Twitch? We know how he is. It’s pretty strange to see him walk back any statements after getting backlash. As far as I know he’s always been the unapologetic, uncancellable degenerate who lives with rats rotting on the floor and his own blood staining the walls.
Asmondgold is a co-founder of the media company One True King. Another co-founder is “TipsOut”, who is also a Muslim. He posted a very long message on Twitter about the hatred he and his family have dealt with simply because of their race and religion and called out Asmondgold for perpetuating that same hatred.
I don’t think he changed his mind because of Twitch. He changed his mind because he his Muslim business partner sat him down and educated him.
He did debate with Hasan on stream for like 3 hours and I’m sure (assuming) he got a lot of texts from his business partners (one of whom I understand is Muslim) so maybe he really did take a hard look at himself.
I sure hope so because, man - what he said was ignorant AF.
Here’s a link to the whole conversation for anyone interested
There’s ignorance then there’s way beyond ignorance. It’s like if someone came to me and said all conservatives ready babies before going to bed, and if respond with “Ya, that obviously true.” What he was saying and advocating for is literally the most reviling and evil thing humanity does to fellow humans. Having to justify genicide is never acceptable and the backlash he received should be towards everyone supporting it, even in the smallest of ways. Biden, Trump, and anyone of power should have to see the faces of those harmed by their continued support of Isreal. I’m glad this nobody of the internet came around but let’s keep that same energy for those really doing the harm.
Streamers really do be instantly reversing years of their character development just by getting banned from an internet platform for a few weeks
Provided as feedback: celebrity drama is not games, plz piss off with this kind of content.
literally the only apology video I’ve ever believed was an apology.
Slowly? Hes been this way for as long as he’s been around
So what did he actually say
Something about not caring for the genocide of people of inferior culture

This may be too political for this sub, even though I think it deserved to be posted somewhere
I think i need to give that guy a sub.
I’m not saying he’s lying, but maybe give it a moment before rewarding someone for doing basic damage control after doing/saying something heinous. Redemption isn’t an instantaneous process.
What damage?
If you’re going to argue in bad faith, you should at the very least understand the words in the comment and how they are being used.
Im gonna argue how i want any you need to understand that everyone has the right to do exactly that.
So your reaction to Asmon saying something kinda fuckin racist and then recanting, as opposed to just not saying the racist thing in the first place, is to give him more of your attention?
People like him get popular by manufacturing controversy.
Your reaction to someone saying they support someone admitting to a mistake making an attempt at rehabilitation is to put them down, then insinuate that a mistake being made also makes it unforgivable?
The real question is did he do this sincerely or because it is hurting him financially. I am all up for forgiveness, etc. but only if this sudden self awareness is authentic.
Can we at least wait to see if he actually meant his apology before we put him on a pedestal?
Its not a controversy to support Israel… Its just the Twitter and lemmy leftists that think it is.
Well there’s that part about the thousand’s of children they slaughtered, but other than that little details it’s really not THAT controversial.
Don’t forget the other details about war crimes against Palestinians and Palestinians living in towns caged in, and getting assaulted day in and day out through the fence by Israelites. And the constant harassment online. And Israelites taking over their homes forcefully. And them having no place to live.
I guess sometimes you can get lost in the details. My bad.
Its really not controversial, you are right. Its just the lemmy and Twitter people that belive that BS.
Bruh are you living under a rock? It’s constantly in the local news where I live, it’s very much controversial
The Palestinian civilian casualties are BS?
wait for the room cleaning stream first
