I’ve always been curious, do Hobbits have crazy high metabolism or extremely poor digestive systems? All those calories must be going somewhere, right?
They like keeping busy! Seriously though you’re presumably already a pretty active person if you can one day just decide to go for a hike to the other side of the world.

They didn’t do it in one shot though. They went to Fatty Bolger’s place first, then to Tom Bombadil’s, Bree, and Rivendell. I imagine that they gradually improved their strength and stamina with each leg of the journey. Frodo’s initial task was just to get The Ring to Rivendell, after all.
I assume it’s a crazy high metabolism. Smaller creatures generally need to eat proportionally more than their larger counterparts. Taken to an extreme, some small birds need to consume their own body weight in food every day.

The average hobbit supposed to be fit.
Some would describe them as plump. Personally I think spherical is the better term
Wouldn’t be as many calories as an average American.
Also the movies are at least %95 walking the Extra long editions %99.9 so they probably burn every single calorie.
Yeah, but this is something normal for Hobbits, notably Mary and Pippin, who are nobles and normally wouldn’t do anything active all day.

(Smash cut to Frodo and Sam clawing their way up Mt. Doom)
" 'Ah, just take the Ring to Rivendell and I’ll catch up with ya! ’ he said.
'Elrond’s pretty sharp he’ll know what to do!’ he said.
‘It’ll be an aDvEnTuRe!’ he said!"

More surface area per volume on a hobbit.
