I am sorry to single you out specifically but the world sucks for a lot of people right now with no foreseeable end and it’s not just because everyone is too online

Personally, I have a very hard time imagining a lasting peace or happiness as long as the world ignores Covid. Even in a micro sense, everyone just fucking does not care about a highly transmissible, permanently disabling disease that has not gone anywhere that will kill me and many others like me. I can of course find a fleeting happiness, some transient joy, in moments where I can live and exist safely among people who respect me and understand the existing conditions enough to acknowledge that, but the vast majority, even those who should know better, seem pleased to forget all of it, and they’re the same sort who will tell me and you to “make happiness where you can”. Whether the source of all that is benign, ignorant, or malicious my answer is the same: I try to be happy, and sometimes succeed, but it’s no thanks to any of them. I don’t know what that future looks like.

All of this is to say nothing of the ongoing macro threat of climate change, which both capital and myself truly have no answers for. If it’s all going to be fucked beyond anything I can do I might as well stick to the devil I know and try to survive as long as I can- if for no other reason than to see what happens- but there are actionable steps with immediate material benefits that we all can take for Covid that no one, not even comrades, will do, so I am significantly more upset and pessimistic about that, under capitalism or anything else.

They are not nor have they ever been panaceas for Covid. Conditions will not improve if this is the prevailing attitude. Eventually people will realize this but it’s going to be very stupid for a long time for this exact reason.

I oppose all of this shit because it requires an unfathomably large and unsustainable level of power consumption to, well, sustain. It is the definition of wasteful decadence during a moment in time where we really, really cannot afford it. I wonder why it is this particular grift everyone wants to tell me is totally nuanced and complicated (regardless of the veracity of such claims) when the long and short of it is that we just do not fucking need any of it.

Please tell me what the concept of gender was like in other societies. Be it Medieval Europe or Imperial China or whatever society you are familiar with.

Please provide me documents. I may take my time to research them.

I have a genuine question that I don’t think I can phrase in a way that won’t make me sound like a jackass: why not have started with this instead of after an entire thread’s worth of claims and assertions to prove you don’t actually know what you are talking about?

We can accept transgender because we know that, after having transitioned, they cannot fake their feeling and gender identity to sexually harass people of different sex.

I also want to push back against this because the data in pretty much every country in the world will prove that the men who want to sexually harass anyone do not go through a charade of cartoonish proportions just to be able to do it- they just do it. A man will not think about disguises so ingenious and clever that no one would be able to tell he’s not a man just so he can go into the women’s bathroom- he just goes into the women’s bathroom. I don’t know where this notion comes from but it’s incorrect and, like many things, likely just plays to cisgender heterosexual insecurities.

Much like a rich person living as any poor person, I’d like to see your average Joe, hell, any of these tough macho men types put up with even half of the utter vileness and inhumanity I’ve dealt with in my life. It would break them in a day.

What is feeling happy or sad? This is absurd.
