“The audit found California spent $24 billion to tackle homelessness over the previous five years but did not consistently track whether the outlay actually improved the situation. In Los Angeles, county and city officials have also moved to take control of an agency that oversees homeless funding after audits found the agency spent money recklessly.”
I’m all for getting people into permanent housing instead of living tents. But when you piss away 24 billion that was supposed to do just that, there’s going to be a lot of people who don’t want to fund it anymore.
I still think it should be funded, but I don’t know what the best solution is to make sure the money is used appropriately.
I worry that people aren’t leaning. The wealth gap has been steadily getting worse since Reagan was in office, with Republicans and Democrats.
Reagan had an advisor that basically said you can’t say ni**er anymore, so you have to use coded language when talking to white people.
Hillary Clinton coined the term “super predators”, so it’s not just a Democrat/Republican issue.
People either have to accept that they’ll do better when everyone does better, or just keep licking the boot that’s on their neck.
I worry they’ll just keep licking.
