Are ‘moms watering down milk’, or is it just the concept of formula is beyond these folks?
It’s on brand for people who unironically refer to Russian conscripts as ‘Orks’ without any sense of irony.
I’d be willing to bet she just lost it and is blaming crime just as a deflection.
The proper response to being offered something to read, indeed.
That same apartment I lived in jumped to something like $750 immediately in response to the crash. It now rents for $1300 last I checked. Same little end unit next to the dumpsters.
I made 10 bucks an hour in 2007 and had a one bedroom one bathroom apartment for $475 in a college city.
Living on your own was possible 18 years ago.
Although it does appear that living in them was better than living in a tent and perhaps led to living in a better housing situation? Unless the place was demolished after you moved out, it would be better than a tent for someone else.
Bad housing is better than no housing, largely in part that it helps people get out of the inertia and deathspiral of homelessness.
There’s a minimum a society should provide, and public housing at least can satisfy that.
I don’t think CECOT wants a person that popularly represents an act of rebellion and defiance. They need faceless individuals who are already in the margins to abuse, not celebrity.
Oh no doubt. The actual staff wouldn’t have to live there. They’d just have to have that much housing built up over the stores.
But also thinking strip malls that are often filled with small stores already owned and operated by a family. They’d only need one or two units overhead, thus being close to as described in the original post.
Considering it looks like every major arterial is zoned for mixed use, that’s not so bad. Or at least not as bad as it could be.
I want every big box store and strip mall in America to be obligated to build enough housing on top and above as it would take to staff the store and their families at a minimum.
I never really did spend much time on reddit, so Lemmy was never a replacement for me.
Even now Lemmy feels much different than it was a few years ago. It is wild seeing posts with only a few comments and hundreds of up/downvotes.
Mass conscription does tend to mass convert civilians to military targets. They reference those who refuse as the exception: else they’re signing onto the policy directly.
You introduced ‘Kill all the Jews’ as an interpretation of a comment that was not making that implication.
But most of all: you’re posting a screenshot of .world moderation, with no one from .ml or hexbear to point at, so I am not sure this is a welcome post for the folk running this show.
He really should’ve put ‘rule’ in the topic line.
Every protest is a sea of organization. Thousands and thousands of people convening in a public space for a cause compels people to think about those next steps. It’s a process of breaking inertia. But yes, these always require a politival mechanism: support for a bill, a race, a party, etc or they will get co-opted by the ruling class.
That’s what happened with Occupy Wall Street, yes, though it still resulted in a major wave of political organization. The movement being ignored resulted in a major wave of disenfranchised people who turned to fascism thinking it would be a viable alternative. But at the same time it helped prime people to actually give Bernie a chance in 2016.
Absolutely. For science and curiosity did you try them using a keyboard+mouse or a controller?
