If someone becomes a conservative in 1995, they want to conserve the current state of society, no? Since society has progressed to a different state in those 30 years, does that not mean this person would want to regress back to the 1995 version? Conservativism is just delayed regressivism.
Recently had a friend tell me that he couldn’t even read reddit comments anymore because of all the “SJW bs”. “I’m as centrist as they come and reddit has just gone way too far left recently”. I haven’t spoken to him since and was a little surprised by the total lack of awareness, as he’s generally a very intelligent & fun person.
There have been problematic comments in the past, but it’s not possible to keep the peace with the current political/societal state - the mental / emotional exhaustion is just too much.
I suggest checking out this dudes twitter posts. He is truly the worst of us - on par with the binned CEO. Fuck you Robert Sterling.
