Summary

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez criticized Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, after he suggested her “Know Your Rights with ICE” webinar could be illegal.

The event informed immigrants about their rights during ICE raids. Homan claimed the webinar might impede immigration enforcement and said he was working with the DOJ to determine legal action.

AOC dismissed his remarks, stating, “Maybe he can learn to read. The Constitution would be a good place to start.”

She continues to oppose Trump’s immigration policies, including efforts to revoke birthright citizenship.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but for instance If all my local justice and climate groups moved to masto they would effectively cease to exist.

Would love it if people with the capability would post to both, though.

It’s possible that you’re right. It’s also possible that people would follow those groups to Mastodon.

It’s very possible that people would follow AOC to Mastodon as well. There’s no reason she can’t post on Mastodon as well and see how it goes.

Social media contributes to the polarization of public discourse and should absolutely be boycotted. However, this polarization manifests in various ways, and your comment is a good example of this. When everything becomes a purity test, we fall into extremism. To counter the rise of fascism, you must be willing to unite with those who do not share your opinions.

To counter the rise of fascism you don’t use the private social media of a guy who does the nazi salute in public.
