Piefed is another instance type that is growing in popularity, and a few instances are now turning on the API. As such, apps are also implementing support.
It would be great if Boost would support it too. Hopefully the extra development overhead isn’t too bad.

The API for third-party apps (frontends, bots, etc) is 95% the same as the Lemmy API.

Thanks for all the info. I will take a look 🧑💻

I would pay money to unlock this feature lmao
Yeah I’d also pay money to get this feature unlocked. PieFed seems pretty awesome.
I’m with ya on that one. I’m curious to try PieFed, but hesitant, because it’d mean installing Interstellar and using that instead of Boost. It’d be nice to have all accounts in Boost, even if it means forgoing some of the exclusive PieFed features to begin with.
I am not sure how much work it would be to make boost work with Piefed.
But I’m at the same dilemma right now: do I want to switch to a piefed instance and try it out? Then I’d need to abandon boost and use an UI that I consider worse. Or I pick another lemmy instance so I can keep using boost.
Having the ability to use piefed with boost would be awesome.
I have been using Interstellar for that reason, it sucks compared to Boost on Lemmy but hey, it works on Piefed (and Lemmy) but yeah, it sucks compartively as an App.
What is even the difference between Piefed and Lemmy?
The first time I heard about Piefed was in the context of the problematic views of the Lemmy developers, so I would assume the Piefed ones are better in that respect.
