Zoos are struggling as the sentiment against captive animals increases. Some are turning the zoos into information centres without animals.

Do you own any pets? What are your thoughts on keeping them inside your dwelling for your amusement?

Keeping animals that have been bred into domestication over thousands of years is different than catching a wild animal and putting it in an enclosure. Corgies don’t wish they were out in the wild hunting deer, they want people to pet them. Tigers don’t want to be pet no matter how nice the magicians are.

Exactly! The care that I provide my cats would be more akin to a nature preserve (i live in the woods in a rural area) versus a zoo.

It’s not amusement. It’s company. They become part of the family and are treated as such. It’s far from the treatment animals get in zoos and they’re fam from being wild animals, too. As someone else pointed out, these are domesticated animals.

lol I do have cats. But, they are all rescued from worse situations. They also have free will to leave at any time as I take them outside daily for their entertainment and enjoyment. They do not have the same dead look in their eyes as do animals in zoos. Edit: removed snark 🤣

I really don’t like when people use autism as an excuse for shitty behavior, or as a pejorative. It’s getting really old really fast and it’s unfair to people who actually are autistic.

Please, don’t use that word like that again.

Good thing I don’t care what others think. Nor should you, or anyone else. I am autistic, ADHD, dyslexic, with a helping of CPTSD from being repeatedly raped by a parent as a child.

If that’s true, I’m sorry this happened to you.

But allow me to have some doubts about the veracity of your statement, especially since your account is only 6 days old and any anonymous stranger can say anything about themselves on the internet.

And wether you are autistic or not or if it affects you or not, using autism pejoratively like this is a trend that needs to end. (Like calling someone/something gay as a pejorative before.) I was only asking nicely to please not use it as a pejorative again. But that’s all up to you.

Just as I don’t care what people think, I also don’t feel obligated to prove myself. I’m 50, so I had to navigate this shit before it was more accepted and studied (with parents that wouldn’t take me for help regardless).

But, I will take it under consideration this once (the use as a pejorative) since you asked nicely. At least online where my conditions aren’t as obvious (regardless of my honed masking) lol

Thank you. I appreciate it :)

And again, if what you say is true, and you did grow up with all these issues, I do sympathise with you.

                    Take care!
