US floats recognition of Russian annexation of Crimea as peace plan efforts continue

Vladimir Putin has offered to halt his invasion of Ukraine across the current front line as part of efforts to reach a peace deal with US President Donald Trump, according to people familiar with the matter.

    The ploy is that when Ukraine refuses it gives the US (Trump/Krasnov) an excuse to stop delivering military aid to Ukraine.

      The greater concern is Trump lifting sanctions and starting to deliver military aid to Russia, or even worse, commit US troops.

      yea most likely they want to reduce local and global support to Zelensky by saying “look we offered peace but he did not take”, of course they will likely offer some unacceptable terms.

      That makes a lot of sense.

      Does Trump care about constructing justifications for his actions though? Seems like he enjoys shooting from the hip and, if ever in doubt, opts for strategies that will piss the most people off.
