I had a fake credit card account opened for me by Wells Fargo. It caused me to accidentally transfer money to the wrong account (from savings to the credit card), so I tried moving the -$10 from the credit card to my checking account, and then I was charged a cash advance fee, and then an overdraft fee. The class action settlement money didn’t even cover one of the fees 🙃

      A) This should have be resolved with prison time. They knew what they were doing.

      B) If you haven’t already, do yourself a favor and switch to a credit union. They are a thousand times better.

My last credit union charged me an inactivity fee. Listen, my fault, but lets not pretend its a different breed. Its a less influential breed, and usually more financially beneficial to us poors.

To be clear for us here in the US yea credit union greater than bank. But you still need to be aware and watch fees and shop around.

I really feel like if the general public applied Finnish bartending practices more frequently, the number of business willing to do, or existing after doing this kind of shit, would rapidly diminish.

The Russian’s were dropping “gift baskets” on the Finns. So the Finns brought “cocktails” for the party. Hopefully that clarifies the situation.

you get what you ask for. there is still a large chunk of people in the US who think that taxing and punishing big corporations are ultimately bad for the low-income people (cuz they put folks ta woerk)

Just a reminder that there were harsher penalties for downloading a single song.

Although, the Trump admin did explicitly say they were going to de-prioritize prosecuting white-collar crime.

Not enough political will from the masses. Too busy being mad about immigrants and trans people.

Also the police are the enthusiastic bootlickers of capital, and people don’t want to get shot at after marching into a CEO’s office and throwing him out the 20th story window.

Friendly reminder that Wells Fargo is a crime syndicate masquerading as a bank. They committed mass identity theft against their own customers and got a slap on the wrist.

Well, you see. When you drain a swamp, it means you get rid of the clean water, and all you are left with is mud and rotting matter. So, I think he is succeeding.

I hadn’t heard of this but it looks like snopes has an acceptable write up. They do state that no one has come out and said it was a quid pro quo, but no other reason was given. Just leaving the link here in case other people are interested.

ETA: to be clear Trump and his admin are obviously corrupt. I just wasn’t aware of the particulars of this situation.

I’ve noticed Snopes seems very eager to sane wash Trump in general. They’ll do things like weasel their way around the allegations related to his child sexual abuse especially.

Honestly, Snopes really fell off in the past ten years.

Very possible, but also they are trying to be a “facts” based site so allegations are not really a thing they can adjudicate without compromising that. Like in this scenario there’s no exact evidence to point to other than circumstantial so they have to say that it has not been proven to be true. I appreciate that in news sources. Obviously I can read into things and draw my own conclusions but I need to be able to go to a place that lays out the “facts” as clearly as possible without editorializing. Media used to do that more when they had to appeal to more people because there were less sources. Now the media landscape is fragmented and you can find “news” sources saying just anything so they’re less incentivized to even appear unbiased.

Trump is obviously a terrible person and just having the facts themselves laid out should sway any normal person. Unfortunately that’s not what we have.

Appreciate you doing the research. I cannot stand Trump and his cronies, but there’s been so much rage bait and sensationalist headlines over the past year that it’s hard to paint a coherent picture of what the hell is actually going on.
