It can be an absolutely lovely day! But it can be awful depending on your life experiences. How has it been for you?

My mother is anti gay and we’re zero contact so mothers day irks me. Really happy that good mothers get a day honouring them though, and I know loads of people make it a lovely family day.

Sorry to hear that. My brother’s boyfriends always where glad to come home with him because My mum always said “rather see him bring home a guy that treats him right than a girl that doesn’t appreciate him”. Already seen 26 mothersday’s without her… What I’d give just to have a cup of coffee with her…

That was so lovely that it didn’t just effect your brother, it effected his partners as well! I get what you say about giving anything just to have coffee… it’s often the little things we miss the most. It’s the every day stuff that’s so easy to take for granted

Sorry to hear about your mother. Her loss because her daughter is clearly an awesome person.

We’ve never really made that much of a big deal about it around here (in my family at least). I still wish my mother happy mother’s day (and these days I also wish one of my sisters who is now a mother happy mother’s day too) but apart from that, it’s mostly just like any other day. The acknowledgement is enough but I don’t think we’ve ever actually all out celebrated it like Christmas.

Tbh I kinda think that too… having so much hate in you can’t feel good. And I love that you include your sister it’s a great way to value her

Pretty shit tbh. Both of my partners are hurting (one having seizure like symptoms after an allergen exposure, the other is just extra bad chronic pain) and our son is being a little asshole today. Screamed at us for a solid 20min about not wanting to sit on the potty, tried to kick me and successfully hit my wife in the head. I’m pretty disassociated, which is why I’m able to keep myself under control while he’s losing his goddamned mind. But this too shall pass.

Happy mother’s day to all mothers out there, whether you’re having a good day or a bad one.

Ah heck mate that’s a lot of shit. You’ve got double pain issues with partners, a child being hard work and you’re dissociated. At least the dissociation is helping you cope… hope the day goes fast

I had a vasectomy a few years back so that my wife wouldn’t need to take birth control to prevent motherhood. I sent happy mother’s day texts to all of my friends who are mothers and I’ll be calling my own mother this afternoon.

My mother hates mother’s day. Instead I invited her over a couple days ago and made Tapas.
She asked for the recipe of the Aioli I made, which is the biggest compliment I got all year.

Today I’m just trying to restore myself.
Yesterday, I did a 40 mile bicycle tour in the morning, went to a beer festival with co-workers and got pretty drunk in the afternoon, slept from 8pm till midnight to kinda sober up, then helped organize a rave till 8 in the morning. At the end, everyone who saw me asked if I’m OK.
