    That reminds me of that cropped photo Western media kept spreading around as an example of Uyghur oppression, in which a bunch of people sit in a courtyard surrounded by barbed wire, but in the original full photo it clearly shows it’s an open area where people have gathered together for activities.

      A drawn version of that exact photo is the cover image of my professor’s book on the history of human confinement (mainly camps). It briefly covers the “Uyghur situation” as well and it’s not great.
