      It’s a famous interchange in Pennsylvania where toll road traffic is forced to exit and briefly run along a surface street that exists only to prompt people to stop and spend money.

        Digging deeper by following the link to List of gaps in Interstate Highways, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Authority is finally fixing this:

        Local businesses have lobbied to keep the gap to avoid a perceived potential loss of business. Despite this, the Pennsylvania Turnpike has announced plans to close this gap by directly connecting I-70 to the Turnpike in September 2024. Completion of the construction is expected in 8-10 years.
