Wouldn’t be offended necessarily. He’s Muslim and South Asian (parents are Gujurati and Punjabi) so it’s easy to think that. We need to offer grace to people outside of our ingroup. They’re going to know less and that’s ok. Just like I don’t know if O’Keefe is Irish, Scottish or Potato.
Mamdani isn’t Arab; he’s Indian. A quarter of the world would be offended by the implication these two groups are the same.
