While protesting on Dam square, one of us was chased by police and dragged into a police van. Either he was already targeted or the police singled out a random person to give us a warning. So crazy, never seen this before with my own two eyes. I’m safe now, returning home

Brace Belden that host of TrueAnon, what’s this dude’s background? From what I saw from recent twitter discourse, he was doing war tourism in Rojava and likely killed people. Any thoughts?
I remember when Rojava was a thing and chapo including the sub was really onboard with it so a lot of well meaning western left got swept up with that nonsense because of their propaganda banners and symbolism.
Killing people doesn’t make one a bad person. If he was killing ISIS he was killing US proxy forces. If he was killing Syrian government troops or their friends on the other hand he was doing US dirty work.
Some people say it’s proof he’s a US intel op and he could be. But he could just as easily be some weird idealist dude. I don’t think he’s harmful to listen to. He doesn’t have awful politics even if his professed bent isn’t quite ML, doesn’t really punch at AES states to my limited knowledge.
There’s a competing podcast or two that like to accuse him of being a fed which is also something feds might do to someone who isn’t so be careful about believing any random unsourced claims that are too over the top.
Do people here have any experience with AliExpress? What’s the stuff one should look out for.
I’ve bought a lot of random guitar junk over the past couple of years. Never had an issue. Longer delivery times maybe.
Look for seller with longer history and good ratings. I’ve bought hundreds of dollars of random little items there, 100+ packages, and only 2 or 3 had issues or lost due to lost in transit after reaching my local area. If broken upon arrival, received refund, etc.
Like any online marketplace, too good to be true things are probable not true.
Is it just me or do so called “leftist” or “progressive” spaces in the west do not give a shit about Asian american people or their issues?

Students around Belgium are starting to occupy campuses this week. Hopefully it goes well
In the Netherlands, two more campuses have been occupied now as well. Groningen and TU Eindhoven

Its definitely more noticeable in the US. In my country there isn’t a single one yet afaik.
I went to the Palestine sit-in at VU today and was a bit disappointed. It was not as radical as at UvA. There were only speeches and chants. It seemed more like a lunch break. One of the speechers was a teacher who teaches international law and he started by saying that he is in favor of a two state solution. Then he kept comparing Israel with Russia.
But since VU is notably more right wing than UvA, I guess it’s surprising they even have a Palestine protest. Hopefully the VU protestors have something more radical planned for next week. Since they were making banners as well, I feel like they are planning something.

Twitter has one of the worst search engines I’ve ever seen. They changed the URL to x and I wanted to see what people are saying. But if you look up the word “Twitter” you’re hit with a bunch of random shit with a lot of likes. If you look up Twitter URL, all the comments are Japanese, Indian, Russian. I guess it’s designed that way; you’re not meant to find the stuff Elon doesn’t want you to see like the original site name.
For a brief time they introduced a comical URL switch issue. They wanted all things that contained twitter.com to be shown as x.com. But they did that terribly. So if someone registered a domain like for example “netflitwitter.com” and put a fake Netflix login page on it, then posted a tweet with their link, it would be displayed as netflix.com but redirect you to the phishing site
Gladio never went away. It just expanded.
What book are we reading this week?
Avatar Yangchen books. I’ve only read non-fiction for years and am giving myself a break from the serious. FWIW her book is effectively about capitalism bad (but ofc it’s still politically awful, she wants to reform the system, etc.)
Mostly stuff on how to create an insect friendly Urban Garden (balcony in my case). I finally have the space to do so.
